Stryker received a bachelor's degree in Letters from University of Oklahoma in 1983. ![]() She is a leading scholar of transgender history. Styker, who is a transgender woman, is the author of several books about LGBT history and culture. Stryker serves on the Advisory Council of METI (Messaging Extraterrestrial Intelligence) and the Advisory Board of the Digital Transgender Archive.
